Unscrupulous sellers often offer refurbished iPhones at the same price as used ones, but with original components and no signs of repair. In iOS 15.2, Apple has made it easier for buyers to check used devices by adding a special section where you can see the history of replacement parts if the device has been repaired.
It is worth noting that not all minor damage or opening of the case will be displayed. It is also impossible to know whether the phone was immersed in water or whether the cables and charging connectors were repaired. However, information about display replacement, camera or battery is now available.
How to Check if Your iPhone Has Been Repaired
- Open Settings and go to the section Main.
- Select a tab About the device.
- If your iPhone has been repaired, a special tab will appear with the service history.
- Click on this tab for details.
Important: If the iPhone has not been repaired, there will be no such section.
If one of the parts has been replaced several times, only the last service call will be shown in the history. The system will also notify if any of the replaced parts are not functioning properly.
While the tool isn't yet ideal for checking used devices, information about display and camera replacements is available starting with the iPhone 12 and 13. For the iPhone 11, you can find out about replacing the battery or screen, while owners of iPhone XR, XS and earlier models will only be able to check battery replacement information.
